Our motion isolation test earned the Avocado Mattress a 6.25/10 rating. Motion isolation tests how well the mattress performs at isolating motion. For example, if you sleep next to a partner, you don’t want to be woken up in the middle of the night by their tossing and turning. That’s why motion isolation is particularly important for couples.

We tested the Avocado’s motion isolation by placing a glass of wine atop the mattress to observe how much an individual’s movement atop the bed affected the wine in the glass. The wine did wobble around the glass, but there was no spillage so the mattress performed relatively well on motion transfer.

Edge Support

The Avocado Mattress earned 7.5/10 in edge support. Edge support refers to how much support is offered on the edges of the mattress. If you tend to find yourself sleeping on the edge of your mattress or use the end of the bed to put your shoes on, then you will want a mattress with sufficient edge support. The Avocado Mattress performed well on this measure. We found that the Avocado Mattress supported sleepers who moved around to either side of the bed. There were some difficulties regarding balance and support while sitting on the edge of the mattress.
