Pressure Test Results

We pressure tested the BRS900-C Medium mattress with models whose bodies range from petite to large-size (Learn how we test.) We had each model lay on their side and back sleeping positions to give us the widest array of test results that will represent the majority of people.

This mattress tested very well for all body types and sleep positions, it definitely gives the sleeper plenty of conforming support as well as relief of pressure points. Pressure relief is very important for a quality night's sleep because excessive pressure on a person's hip and shoulder joints will cause discomfort and even pain. This discomfort will then lead to that person rolling around in bed trying to get comfortable again meaning a very disturbed night's sleep.

Conforming support in a mattress is what hugs a body's curves and supports them for appropriate spine alignment and cushioning of the knee joint. Improper support often leads to back pain and an awful night's sleep and a cranky day for the weary sleeper.

The support and pressure relief this mattress provides is very good. To understand how we tested that aspect of this mattress you'd need to first understand what you're seeing in these images. In areas where you primarily see a green coloring the mattress is performing perfectly in supporting those areas of the body. The yellow area means there's a rise in the amount of pressure that is a bit more than what is recommended but not so much that it would cause discomfort. Bright red areas show too much pressure on that joint indicating that the mattress could potentially cause discomfort.

The BRS900-C Medium mattress is a medium-firm mattress that will appeal to most sleepers, although it's on the firmer side. It's one of five BRS900-C models that offer differing comfort feels for you to choose from. This bed provides excellent conforming support for better spinal alignment and pressure relief on your joints. Conforming and customized support helps to improve sleep efficiency and alleviate aches and pains.

The bed has a cover that helps to wick moisture away from your body, which will help you sleep dry and is a nice feature. This model also has materials to help keep you from sleeping too hot. The bed has decent layers of foam materials, especially the layer of Dynamic Memory Foam, which is a premium material in this bed. Underneath those layers is the innerspring coil system providing the core support of the bed. Individually pocketed coils are the best because they move and adjust independently from each other giving you targeted support from each spring.

Overall this is a good bed to consider, its price is reasonable, has some premium features, and comes from a reliable company. There are mattresses priced above and below, so if you want less or more in a mattress you can look accordingly. Despite its medium-firm feeling (rated a 3 on our 10-point scale), this bed performs surprisingly well in the support and pressure relief areas.
