Comfort Scale Rating

The BRS900-C Medium Pillow Top mattress has a medium-firm feel; we rate it a 3 on our 10-point Comfort Scale (a 1 is hard, 10 is softest.) This mattress is on the firm side, but not too hard. So people who prefer a firm bed will like it, while those of you who like a soft-feeling mattress may not sleep well on this model.

Pressure Test Results

We've pressure tested the BRS900-C Medium Pillow Top bed using petite, average and large body size people to learn how this bed would perform in regards to pressure relief and support. Each model laid on their side and back sleeping positions to give us as wide an array of results that will represent the majority of people. (Learn how we test.) 

This bed tested fairly well and is recommended for most sleep positions and body types with the exception of larger people who sleep on their sides. Most of the sleeping positions with small, medium, and large body types showed minimal amounts of pressure points.

The bright red area on the shoulder in the pressure map image below shows that this mattress would cause significant pressure on that joint which would then cause a person of that size to toss and turn at night. What you want to see in the pressure testing images are blue and green areas which indicate the bed is providing conforming support and excellent pressure relief. The yellow areas show an increase in pressure but not so much that it would cause undue discomfort.

Pressure relief is particularly important because an unreasonable amount of pressure on the joints would lead to tossing and turning thereby disturbing your sleep. Support is just as important for proper alignment of the spine. Improper spinal alignment can lead to extreme discomfort and even lower back pain.
