Comfort Scale Rating

The Lydia Manor Medium Pillow Top mattress has a firmer feeling and is rated a 3 on our 10-point Comfort Scale (a 1 is hard, 10 is softest.) At this rating the bed will feel firm but not too hard, it definitely is a comfort that you'd want out of a mattress if you prefer a firmer bed. We've put the Lydia Manor Medium Pillow Top mattress through pressure testing to see if the bed provides good support, pressure relief, and comfort for large, medium, and petite-sized people. Using models in each size group we've had them lie down on their side and back sleeping positions for a clear image of how well this mattress will perform for most people. (Learn how we test.) 

This mattress performed very well during testing, earning five out of six 'recommended' scores for its ability to properly support your back and give you great pressure relief. Perhaps the most important thing you can do for a good night’s sleep and your overall health is proper spinal alignment – making sure your spine is supported to rest in its natural curvature. This bed does an excellent job of supporting your back for proper spinal alignment.

It also relieves excess pressure on your peak pressure points, or your shoulders and hips, which is pretty crucial to good quality sleep as well. Too much pressure on your joints will cause you to toss and turn throughout the night making for a terrible night's sleep. The only obvious exception to this is the large-sized body in the side sleeper position that had a significant build-up of pressure in the shoulder area.

All this information is good stuff but it really doesn't explain what's going on in the images below. The color coding is pretty easy: green = good pressure relief, yellow = an increase in pressure, and red = too much pressure. The light blue areas in the lower back area exhibit where the body is receiving proper support for spinal alignment.
