Highlights of Nectar vs Leesa

The Leesa Mattress

Leesa Original Mattress

  • Pressure Point Support: Although the Leesa’s medium firmness and supportive foam layers make it a great choice for all sleeping positions, the pressure-relieving and contouring qualities of this mattress make it one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers who need more pressure point support.
  • Great for Couples: In addition to its middle-of-the-road firmness, the Leesa has responsive and motion isolation qualities that make it suitable for couples who have different sleeping positions.
  • Sleeps Cool: Many foam beds can get hot at night, but the Leesa Mattress’s foam layers are designed to promote airflow and move heat away from the body at night to keep you sleeping cool.

  • Repels Allergens and Bed Bugs: This memory foam mattress comes with a proprietary cover designed to keep allergens, dust mites, and other bed bugs out and extend the life of the mattress.
  • Trial Period: In addition to being at a great price point (one of the best mattresses under $1,000) Nectar offers extremely generous trial and warranty periods. Each Nectar mattress comes with a 365-night trial so that you can sleep on the mattress for a full year without committing. If you decide to keep it, your Nectar Mattress comes with a Forever Warranty, meaning that Nectar will repair or replace your mattress for as long as you own it.

The Leesa Mattress

Inside layers of Leesa Original Mattress

The Leesa mattress is made with three layers of foam designed to hug you in your sleep and relieve stress from pressure points. The bottom layer of foam creates a supportive foundation that provides enough pushback to keep pressure points from sinking low into the mattress and causing discomfort. The memory foam layer in the middle of the mattress provides excellent pressure relief. Leesa made over 200 prototypes to perfect this pressure relieving foam layer and it provides superior results. While many foam mattresses tend to hold heat, the Leesa’s top comfort layer is designed with passageways for air to flow through and keep you cool all night long. This layer is also designed to give the bed a little extra bounce.

The Nectar Mattress

Inside layers of Nectar memory foam mattress

The Nectar Mattress uses four different types of memory foam to provide support and weight distribution for a great night’s sleep. The bottom layer serves as a foundation, while a layer of hi-core memory foam provides support. The gel memory foam layer distributes body weight equally and is topped with a quilted gel memory foam layer that is designed to circulate airflow and contour to your body. As an added plus, the Nectar Mattress comes with a cover to keep out dust mites and increase the longevity of your mattress making it the best hypoallergenic mattress. The Nectar, however, is made almost entirely from memory foam and therefore may not be the best choice for those who are not fond of a memory foam feel.

The Leesa mattress is made in the USA, while the Nectar is made in China. Both mattresses, however, are CertiPUR-US Certified, meaning that they are tested by a third party to be free of potentially harmful chemicals.

Both the Leesa and Nectar are medium-firm all-foam mattresses. This middle-of-the-road firmness level works well for all sleeping positions and therefore is ideal for couples who have different firmness preferences or people who change sleeping positions in the middle of the night.  The Leesa is slightly firmer than the Nectar with a firmness score of 6 out of 10 compared to the Nectar’s 5.5 out of 10.

Motion Transfer

If you sleep with a partner or pet, motion transfer will be an important factor in deciding which mattress is right for you.  A mattress that minimizes motion transfer will help keep your sleep partner’s movements from disturbing your rest.  Both mattresses had excellent scores in the Mattress Advisor motion transfer tests, but Leesa scored slightly higher with a score of 9 out of 10 vs. the Nectar’s 8.5.

Edge Support

Edge support is an important feature to keep a mattress comfortable and durable.  A mattress with strong edge support will resist sagging over time, keep you from falling out of bed, and increase the sleeping surface of the bed.  Both the Leesa and Nectar scored very well in our edge support testing.  The Leesa earned a score of 8.5 out of 10, and the Nectar scored slightly higher with a 9 out of 10.

Delivery and Returns

Both the Leesa and Nectar mattresses ship free and are delivered as a bed-in-a-box, meaning that the mattress is condensed into a box that is smaller than the actual mattress for added mobility and convenience.  This shipping method is great for those who live in apartments or will need to take the mattress up a set of stairs

The Leesa mattress is delivered within 3-6 business days. Leesa also offers optional services with delivery such as mattress setup for an additional charge of $100, and old mattress removal for $50.

The Nectar is delivered within 2-5 business days. Nectar offers a white glove service where someone will come set up your new mattress and remove your old one for about $170, but price may vary.

Leesa Mattress FAQs

Q. Does the Leesa have a break-in period?

Yes, your body will take some time to adjust to your new Leesa mattress — especially if you are used to sleeping on a traditional innerspring mattress. It usually takes up to 30 days to break in a new mattress. This period will also give your body enough time to get used to the feel of the new mattress.

Q. Can I finance my Leesa Mattress?

Yes, Leesa offers 6, 12, and 18-month payment plan options at 0% APR through Affirm. Select “Affirm” during the checkout process to apply. Affirm payment plans are not eligible for current online promotions, offers, or discounts.

Q. How is Leesa a socially conscious mattress brand?

Leesa’s social impact initiatives earned the company the highest possible Social Impact Score. Leesa donates a mattress to a child in need for every 10 mattresses sold and has donated over 36,000 mattresses so far. Additionally, Leesa plants a new tree for every purchase made, makes their mattresses in the USA out of recycled packaging and steel, and uses renewable energy to run their headquarters. You can rest easy on your Leesa mattress knowing that you purchased from a socially conscious brand.

Nectar Mattress FAQs

Q. How does Nectar’s 365-night trial work?

Nectar offers a year-long trial period starting the day that the mattress is delivered. This means that you are able to test out the mattress for 365 nights and return it if it is not a good fit for you. You are eligible to return your mattress for a full refund after a 30-day break-in period. If you choose to return your mattress, contact Nectar customer service. They will schedule a date to pick up the mattress and process a full refund within a few days. Although the return process is easy, it is unlikely that you will want to send your Nectar back — only 3% of mattresses are returned.

Q. Can I finance my Nectar Mattress?

Nectar offers a payment plan through Affirm to allow you to make 6 months of low, interest-free payments instead of one lump sum payment upfront. No credit check is required. Simply select the payment plan option at checkout and then apply using a bank account, debit or credit card and providing a source of income.

Q. Is the Nectar eco-friendly?

The foam used in Nectar mattresses is CertiPUR-US certified. This means that a third party verified that they meet some of the most rigorous standards for emissions, content, performance, and durability. Also, since CentiPUR-US certified mattresses have very low levels of VOC chemicals, the off-gassing process for your new bed will only take a few hours.
