Pros & Cons
Pressure Test Results
We’ve pressure tested the Cloud Elite mattress with petite, average and large body sizes in the side and back sleeping positions to see what kind of support and comfort you can expect. (Learn how we test.) The Cloud Elite tested great, except for large people who sleep on their sides. In all but the large, side sleeper situation, the mattress distributed body weight well with little to no pressure points. It also provided nice support in areas like the lower back and into the legs. This earned a Recommend for pretty much every body size and position.
But as I just mentioned, the large side sleeper did not do well. This is likely because this is a softer mattress and a heavy body will sink deeper into the bed layers triggering pressure points – a characteristic of a being a softer mattress. Those pressure points can become uncomfortable causing you to move and interrupt your sleep.

The Cloud Elite is an excellent mattress for most people and we ‘Recommend’ it for all but large side sleepers. The mattress does a great job contouring your body without pressure points and also providing proper support in the lower back, sides and even legs. It’s a softer feeling mattress so that limits the appeal to those of you that like softer mattresses.
The softness allows a large person to sink too far into the mattress from the side position. The heavier weight concentrated on the narrower side position pushes through the softer layers impacting the firmer layers below. This creates some pressure points that can become uncomfortable and cause you to toss and turn at night disrupting your sleep. So for large, side sleepers we do ‘Not Recommend’.
The bed is mid-priced for Tempurpedic, so it’s a decent price for this brand. Obviously, there are cheaper options on the market. But Tempurpedic has a great reputation and long track record over 25 years. This particular bed performed great as described above so you can choose this one with confidence.
