The Lydia Manor Extra Firm mattress is a very firm-feeling bed that has a rating of 1 on our 10-point Comfort Scale (a 1 is hard, 10 is softest.) This is the hardest-feeling bed of all five of the Lydia Manor models. If you think you wouldn't like a bed this firm then I suggest you consider one of the other four Lydia Manor models with softer comforts.

We've pressure tested the Lydia Manor Extra Firm mattress to learn if the bed provides good support, pressure relief, and comfort for large, medium, and petite-sized people. Using models in each size group we had them lie on their side and back sleeping positions on this mattress for a clear representation of how well this mattress will perform for most people. This Lydia Manor Extra Firm performed fairly well during testing, surprisingly so considering that this is a very firm mattress. This bed does offer good back support and decent pressure relief, though there is a build of pressure in the hips and shoulders of some of the bodies shown below. What you're looking for are red areas which mean there's excess pressure on that joint. The yellow areas mean there's a build-up of pressure while the green areas are where the body is getting the proper amount of pressure relief.

The Lydia Manor Extra Firm Mattress is a very hard, extra firm-feeling bed that should only be considered by people who prefer this type of comfort from their bed. Anyone who prefers anything even remotely soft will likely not feel comfortable on this mattress.
There are only two layers of high-quality foams, the AirCool Foam and the Dynamic Response Memory Foam. These combine with various types of comfort foam to relieve pressure and support your back quite fairly well.
I do recommend this mattress to anyone who really likes a super firm bed. This mattress is an affordable option for just about everyone.
