Pressure Test Results

We've pressure tested the iComfort CF4000 Plush mattress with small, average, and large body size people who sleep on their sides and backs to see what kind of support and pressure relief you can expect. (Learn how we test.)

This mattress performed particularly well for back sleepers, providing excellent back support and pressure relief for great comfort and the promotion of quality REM sleep. It did, however, earn one 'not recommended' score for the large-sized side sleepers which can be attributed, in part, to the excessive amount of pressure that is shown on the shoulders and hips in the image below.

The bright red areas exhibit an area where the pressure was far too much which would lead to tossing and turning for very interrupted sleep. The yellow areas mean there's an increase in the amount of pressure, above what is considered 'normal, or acceptable. The green and light blue areas are what you want to see, they show where the body is getting good pressure relief and proper back support. As you can see in the back sleeper images, this bed does a very good job of supporting the lower back for proper spinal alignment.

In considering this mattress for your next bed purchase, feel free to use our test results in your decision-making:

More about Serta

Serta was founded in 1931and has been based in Illinois ever since. Serta first released their iComfort mattress in 2011. Since being founded, Serta has delivered multiple industry firsts and has provided quality mattresses all over the world.

Conclusion

At the top end of the iComfort collection in the 'CF' models are the CF4000s, of which there are two models. The CF4000 Plush is the softer-feeling bed of the two and represents the greatest number of comfort layers and cooling technology out of all six 'CF' model beds.  A visual cue that this bed is loaded with cooling technology is the three snowflakes that are sewn into the bed cover at the foot of the bed.

Just like all the other 'CF' models, the CF4000 Plush has a layer of Carbon Fiber Memory Foam, part of its UltraCold System™. This system works to absorb excess heat and expel it away from your body for a more comfortable night's sleep. Serta also introduced its exclusive Air Support™ Foam, which gives you excellent body contouring support.

Not only do these foams work to draw heat away from your body, but they also serve their primary function, making sure you're comfortable throughout the night. Fortunately, this mattress tested exceptionally well for back sleepers during our pressure testing. It's not quite as effective for side sleepers though, so bear that in mind when you're considering this mattress.

Being at the top-end of the 'CF' models means that the CF4000 Plush comes with a hefty price tag. Like many other people on a budget, I couldn't afford this bed if I tried, but, if money is no object and you want the top-end all-foam bed that's a softer feeling mattress, this bed is a perfect choice. If you're on a budget, but want a quality memory foam mattress, you might want to consider one of the cheaper models in the iComfort line.
