About Tempur-Pedic Mattress Sets
Updated March 12, 2020
Tempur-Pedic burst into the mattress industry with the memory foam mattress that they pioneered. They started in the early ’90s with a unique concept that was unlike traditional innerspring mattresses. They became a major player in no time, competing with companies that had been making mattresses for over a century. They grew so large, they recently bought the Sealy Mattress Company, and became Tempur-Sealy.
Tempur-Pedic uses foam that NASA developed to protect astronauts from high-impact landing. They realized it would be an excellent material for mattresses, so they used this science to design and manufacture their foam components and mattresses. Unlike most foam mattress brands that buy components from suppliers, Tempur-Pedic manufactures their own. Tempur-Pedic’s innovative foam forms to the sleeper’s body, contouring to distribute pressure and provide support. It provides unmatched pressure relief, helping you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
Their technology continues to advance as they create more varieties of Tempur foam to use for different purposes. They even offer hybrid models with springs now and new models feature advanced cooling technology for temperature management. Tempur-Pedics cost from about $1,500 to just under $8,000, but their commitment to quality materials and premium methods ensures a bed that is worth the price. There are many brands that have followed suit in making memory foam beds but Tempur-Pedic remains the industry leader.
