Stearns and Foster Studio Collection Mattress Review

Studio mattress - a blue mattress with a white top, in a decorated bedroom with moody lighting

Overview

The Studio collection is Stearns & Foster's entry-level offering for people who want a luxury mattress but don't have the budget for a $3,000 mattress.

There are two options, either a medium or a medium pillow top comfort. The medium is a fairly firm medium, which we rate a 3 on our 10-point comfort scale. The medium pillow top has a bit more cushioning and more of a true medium feel, coming in at a 5 on our comfort scale.

Pros and Cons of Studio Mattresses

PROS CONS
  • Affordable entry into Stearns & Foster
  • High quality bed with that provides good support and pressure relief
  • Coil edge support
  • Breathable construction with air vent system
  • Do not feature the same coil-in-coil design as the rest of the Stearns & Foster mattresses

The two beds have similar features, with the main difference being additional memory foam in the pillow top version.

These have a high quality coil system and the coil edge is a step up from most other mattresses, which have a foam edge. It's more breathable and sturdy than a foam edge.

The Tencel cover is a breathable, natural material, keeping you cool and fresh while you sleep. With the AirVent System also adding breathability, these beds get plenty of airflow throughout, so they don't trap heat.

Conclusion

Stearns & Foster mattresses definitely fall into the luxury category, handcrafted and carefully put together with premium materials.

In my opinion, these are very comfortable mattresses, a step above mid-range beds but still affordable for being in the luxury market. The cover has a nice, smooth feel.

These beds would work well for stomach to back sleepers, and can keep temperatures neutral. If you tend to sleep really hot, you may want to look at something with more powerful cooling technology.

If you're looking for a high quality medium or medium-firm innerspring mattress, these are an excellent option in this price range.
